Random Act of Kid-ness: The 14 Year Old Philanthropist

This week, our Random Act of Kid-ness comes from one of the winners of Nestle’s Very Best in Youth competition, 14 year old Christopher Yao. At such a young age, Christopher has already created two nonprofit organizations dedicated to motivating kids to make the world a better place.

Another thing Christopher has done is raise money for The Smile Train, which is an organization that provides free corrective surgeries for cleft lips and palates. He even started an annual Smile Train Read-A-Thon that not only raises thousands of dollars for the organization, but also promotes reading among young children.

Read more about Christopher’s story, as well as those of the other winners and finalists of Nestle’s competition here.

Do you know a young philanthropist? Let us know, and we might feature your pick next week!

“Once you begin to acknowledge random acts of kindness – both the ones you have received and the ones you have given – you can no longer believe that what you do does not matter.” -Dawna Markova
