This week’s Random Act of Kid-ness comes to us from Clarkson, MI, where 8 year old Claire Kirchner started a fundraiser called “Rock it up for Lighthouse.” Claire and her friends paint and sell rocks to raise money for Lighthouse of Oakland County, which provides food, housing, clothing, financial help and transportation to residents in need of emergency assistance. Many local businesses were inspired by Claire’s thoughtfulness, and they donated art supplies to her cause. Lighthouse Chief Development Officer Priscilla Perkins said:
“I see a lot of kids doing good things or their community, and it makes my heart swell. It’s wonderful when young people get engaged.”
We think Claire’s fundraiser is a great idea! You can read more about it here. Has your child participated in a fundraiser that helped make the world a better place? Let us know!
