Houston boy, 3, gets Bronze Star for being ‘hero’ to kids in hospitals

What an amazing story!  This article talks about a Houston toddler that is fighting for his life and “is helping other children who must wage health battles of their own, and his actions have earned him recognition as a real-life “hero.”..” Bennet Nester was diagnosed with a brain tumor two Christmas’s ago.  While he was at the hospital two strangers visited Bennet and brought him a bear.  He never let the bear out of his sight, and even said that the bear helped eased the pain.  Bennet and his mother decided to form “Bennet Bears” and collected 250 of the stuffed animals to give to sick children at area hospitals. This year, they’ve collected more than 900.

A Vietnam veteran heard of Bennet’s Acts of Kid-ness, and he gave Bennett his Bronze Star — “the fourth-highest individual military award given in recognition of acts of heroism, acts of merit or meritorious service in a combat zone.”
