Have you seen these new tools in our Construction Zone?!
Come get crafty and learn how the mechanics of each of these tools works and how they work together. What will YOU build when you come to play?
Our new play space is placed thematically in the Zimmer’s building area right next to our giant pinball machine and Construction Zone. Connections is a stainless steel wall with a variety of sizes of gears that are removable. The combinations are endless! By seeing how the different gears affect one another, your little ones can learn how we are all connected and how each of our actions affects others. The gear wall is not only insanely fun, but it also teaches: cause and effect, fine motor and manipulative skills, problem-solving, colors and patterns, and principles of motion!
So what are you waiting for? Come learn about connections today!
If you’ve walked into the museum lately, you’ve probably noticed something big taking over the main lobby wall. And you might have been wondering why our staff has been wandering around the museum in their sweatbands.
Well, the Zimmer Children’s Museum is an official charity of the 2012 Honda LA Marathon, and to get in the spirit, the Zimmer staff is on a RACE TO NAPTIME! Help your favorite staff member win the race to the crib by donating to his or her LA Marathon team! We’ll even put your name on a little baby foot on the chart!

Here at the Zimmer, not only are we playing our way to a better world, but we’re also drawing our way to a better world!
Last month, we participated in The Big Draw LA, a “city-wide celebration of the act of drawing.” As part of The Big Draw LA, we invited visitors of the Zimmer Children’s Museum to create a permanent mural, ArtVille, for the museum! From Tuesday, October 18 through the end of the month, we invited all families to draw, color, and cut their own buildings, cars, roads, and more! Our resident art teachers Julie Jacobs and Sasha Karlova were the leads on the project.
According to The Big Draw LA website:
Drawing is a universal language, connecting generations, cultures, and communities. Children draw to make sense of the world before they learn to write. Yet most adults, given a pencil, claim: “I can’t draw!” The Big Draw aims to remove this barrier and create opportunities for people of all ages to discover that drawing can make us SEE, THINK, and INVENT.

So next time you’re at the museum, don’t forget to peek your head into the Art Studio and see our new ArtVille mural!
Have you seen our new shopping carts? They’re located in the Corner Market, but the carts are so popular that they are being pushed all throughout the museum!
The museum may be closed for maintenance this week, but you know what that means? Even more new stuff! Stay tuned for the next Have You Seen It?!
Here at the Zimmer, it seems like we always have something new and exciting. From time to time, we’ll feature something in the museum that is either brand new or something you just may not have noticed before!
Did you know we have new ocean animals for our Water Ways exhibit? Water is essential to all life on our planet. Our actions can affect the flow of this precious resource and everything that depends on it. Come splash, play and discover!
WARNING: You will get wet!
